Job Purpose : To undertake a variety of processes including polishing, abrasive cleaning, rumbling and vibro, passivation, degreasing, plating and pressure testing as required within the Finishing Department such that the efficiency and effectiveness of the department is maintained at the highest level and in accordance with Company and departmental procedures.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To be conversant with and undertake CM transactions using SFDC terminals in order that :
• work in progress is accurately recorded at all times
• processing of component batches is tracked throughout the manufacturing process with records regularly updated and accurate at all times
• location of components and parts is accurately recorded at all times.
2. To be conversant with and employ appropriate Machinery, Equipment and Process Specifications as indicated on Production Card relevant to specific component batches such that work is undertaken according to requirements and so that :
• processes are carried out in accordance with laid down procedures
• required quality standards are achieved.
• health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times
• work is completed in accordance with required work schedules
3. To accurately interpret component drawings and relevant information so that Part Numbers, Drawing Issues, relevant ADR’s, Process Specification Call Up Box and Surface Finishes can be accurately identified and applied.
4. To undertake self-inspection and quality check of work undertaken in accordance with laid down quality standards and procedures.
5. To monitor the fitness for purpose of tools and equipment and provide for their replacement and/or recalibration so that tools and equipment are in good condition and suitable for purpose at all times and in order to avoid damage of goods, property and harm to oneself or other employees.
6. To handle materials, goods and components carefully and comply with safety regulations and handling/processing instructions so that :
• components are not damaged through mishandling or faulty processing
• accidents do not occur through negligence or mishandling.
7. To report any dangerous practices and other dangers such as faulty equipment to local supervision so that all operations are safe at all times.
8. To undertake regular operator maintenance of machine parts, machine services (air etc.), media levels and general cleanliness of machines and equipment.
9. To undertake any other duties as required together with general housekeeping and
cleaning duties such that the Finishing Department and associated areas are maintained in an efficient, clean and safe condition providing for a safe and efficient working environment.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Good basic standard of education (literate and numerate)
Physically fit (able to stand for majority of working shift of 8 hours)
Assertive and confident approach (must not be afraid to seek advice)
Able to read engineering drawings and work instructions
Experienced in use of a variety of measuring equipment/tools
Knowledge of materials (properties of stainless steel/aluminium/brass/mild steel etc.)
Factory/Industrial background
Ideally experience of aerospace industry with understanding of high quality standards and
job traceability etc
