A vacancy has arisen for a Leading Hand within the Goods Inward Inspection Department.

The role will involve undertaking a variety of activities including the co-ordination of activity between purchasing, suppliers, drawing office and quality departments, to ensure that the efficiency and effectiveness of the goods inward inspection department is maintained. This role will also be expected to supervise staff, including allocating work duties and maintaining time & attendance records.

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

• Using SAP, undertake CM transactions using SFDC terminals to ensure that work in progress is accurately recorded.

• Ensure the appropriate Tooling, Test Equipment and Process specifications are used as indicated on production cards.

• Interpret component drawings/test procedures to ensure Part Numbers, Drawing issues, relevant ADRs, Process Specification Call Up Box and Surface Finishes are accurately identified and applied.

• Monitor the fitness for purpose of tools and equipment in order to avoid damage to goods, property and individuals and undertake regular operator maintenance.

• Ensure that materials, goods and components are handled appropriately and in line with safety regulations.


Candidates must have a good basic standard of education (literacy and numeracy), have good managerial skills and be able to read engineering drawings and work instructions. Experienced in the use of a variety of hand tools/test equipment, candidates must also have a good knowledge of materials (properties of stainless steel/aluminium/brass/ mild steel etc)
